Introduction
Our society is a product of how we welcome and raise our children
"Research is now showing us that our society is a product of how we welcome and raise our children. When babies are welcomed with love and warmth and given the immediate opportunity to bond with parents, they develop minds that are coherent and flexible, ready in turn to make compassionate and meaningful connections with others as they grow."
The above statement is from the description of What Babies Want: An Exploration of the Consciousness of Infants at IMDB
When this wonderful documentary was released I invited Debby Takikawa, the Director to our community to host a screening of the film, plus a discussion with Debby and the audience after the event.
This evening changed my perception of what is required to birth and raise our children, I will be forever grateful to Debby and the team that produced this beautiful film.
I discovered the tremendous impact our early childhood has on the rest of our lives, from:
- our time in the womb
- the way we are welcomed into the world
- the first 1001 Days
- the early childhood years
As I connected the dots or followed the threads where they would lead, the resources in this section have been very enlightening and helpful. I hope they are helpful for you too as we held to build a better world for our babies to be born into.
